In our webshop you will mainly find vintage clothing items, but what is the difference between antique, vintage and pre-loved? This is actually very easy to put into words, antique is more than 100 years old, vintage is between 25 and 100 years old and pre-loved is a maximum of 24 years old. Antique clothing is very scarce these days and we therefore do not sell it in the webshop.
Vintage or pre-loved?
The vast majority of the webshop falls into the vintage category. As mentioned earlier, these are clothing items between 25 and 100 years old, but how can this be recognized?
There are a number of points you can pay attention to when finding the most beautiful vintage pearls, first of all check the size/care labels. Here you can regularly find information about the country of origin. If you see made in Italy, France, the Netherlands, Germany etc. then there is a big chance that the item is vintage. In countries such as China, India, Vietnam, Bangladesh etc. there is a big chance that the item is pre-loved.
With a bit of luck you can sometimes even find the year of production on these labels, for example if it says W79 then there is a good chance that the item was part of the 1979 winter collection. In addition, a number of materials have had different names over the years, an example of this is elastane, if the material description says spandex or lycra there is a much greater chance that the item is vintage.
Then we come to one of the most important points and also the point why we are such fans of vintage clothing. The finishing and details, with vintage clothing, time was really taken to finish everything and for example embroider instead of printing. Nowadays, the clothing industry is more about mass production, producing as many items as possible for the lowest possible price. This is often at the expense of the details, which can make an item extra special.
However, we do not want to write off pre-loved items completely. We do have high quality requirements for these garments and will mention in the description that it is a pre-loved item. If nothing is mentioned in the description, you can assume that this is a vintage item :)
